During the claim construction hearing, the judge will hear oral arguments that support each party's claim construction positions.  The oral argument typically includes a slideshow presentation with annotated drawings from the patent at issue in order to emphasize the claim construction arguments.  After the claim construction hearing, the court's decision may be as soon as the conclusion of the hearing, or as long as three months after the hearing, depending on the jurisdiction. If the court's decision on claim construction is adverse to a party, that party may be able to amend their contentions so as to modify their legal theories.
